Football season is right around the corner with most colleges kicking off this weekend. While all eyes here are on the Patriots and Meter’s eyes are on BC, here is a list of the top 5 New England football games you SHOULD know about but don’t.

Holy Cross @ Harvard – September 19th

The Crusaders QB is a 2nd team Pre-Season All American and 2007 Patriot League offensive player of the year. Holy Cross opens the season the week before at home against UMass but the trip to Harvard Stadium on a Friday night, is the game everyone is looking forward to.

Williams @ Amherst – November 8th

The most played rivalry in D-3 and the 4th most in all of college football. It’s a big enough game that ESPN College Gameday broadcast from Williams College last November.

Deerfield @ Choate – November 8th

This match-up of Prep School heavyweights has the setting of a Norman Rockwell painting. The endowment of these high schools are more then most colleges. Alumni include the likes of, JFK (Choate) and the King Abdullah of Jordan (Deerfield).

Nobles @ Milton – November 8th

The ISL has come a long way in producing top high school football products and this is the most intense rivalry in the league. Nobles is the 2007 league champion finishing with a 9-0 record.

Pittsburgh @ UCONN – December 6th

There is another D-1 football team in New England besides BC. Randy Edsall has turned down numerous jobs to stay in Storrs where he thinks he can build a top 25 program ala Rutgers.

I’m not wishing the summer away but I’m ready for football to be back in my life.
