I was reading Steve Conroy in the Herald this morning about the Bruins, seriously. I wish I could have been at the Bruins “State of the B’s” last night, but I don’t have the coin for season tickets. Would have loved to seen the face Neely gave when the kid/man/woman asked when the B’s were gonna sign a woman to the team.
I like what the Bruins have done so far this year, not going crazy, but signing some quality talent. Yelle had a down year last year but he can be a positive influence in the young locker room!
I think they can build on last years excitement and playoff success (if you wanna call making the playoffs success), also remember Patrice Bergeron and Manny Fernandez return, although I am sad that Glenn Murray is gone, Great guy. I got the chance to meet him, he lives/ed in my hometown this past season.
Can you believe that I am blogging hockey 1 week into the NFL season? Can’t wait for the ’09 Patriots season to start, wonder what they’ll do in the draft! B’s camp opens on the 19th!
Couple of “insider” notes I am deeming worthy of sharing with you! First, today Dennis and Callahan had on Matt Cassel’s High School Coach, Bill Coan. Now part of producing a show is booking guests and the adventure of finding them. Keep in mind this guy is a High School football coach. I called Chatsworth H.S in California, Coan left that job in 2000 or ’01, so I asked someone in the office if they knew where he was coaching currently. I was passed to another high school, Burbank HS.
Got a hold of someone there, the young lady couldn’t have been nicer, while she bashed this former coach. Turns out Coan was hired to coach there, but left 2 weeks after being hired to go coach another HS team. Apparently he didn’t have a formal agreement with Burbank, although he was coaching up kids right after he got hired. So he bailed on Burbank after 2 weeks to become the coach somewhere else. So I had to call the L.A Athletic Directors Association to hunt this guy down, and the guy I got on the phone actually knew him. Just one of those deals that you couldn’t make up. Also look for ESPN to be doing a piece on Sunday from Matt’s former HS as well. As Peter King would say “This may only interest me,” but I thought it was a cool little story.
Another little perk of the job, for me anyway, is that I got hired to engineer and produce the BC games for ISP sports in N.C. Part of that deal is to tape the Coach Jags show on Tuesdays with Meter and Jags. We tape the show this past week, and then he takes us into this big walk in closet, his personal video room, and starts breaking down the GTech game with us. This is any football fans dream, to sit in a coaches office and watch the coaches game tape! We got to see the breakdowns of the BC offense and defense. When you slow things down, and have that little red pointer, it really makes the game that much more understandable.
We got to see how the play breaks down, and also how they develop. What an experience, and to have Jags, or any coach there with us, to do the play by play or the ripping! Think Charlie Weis does that with his radio guys?
Thanks for reading, feel free to email me questions or comments, since I’m the only one not doing a reader feedback blog, sciaccio@weei.com.

Thanks a GREAT post Chach! I’m very jealous you got to be in a room and have a coach break down football tape.
Oh and I get to do the Cup Finals for the Bruins this season, because you did the NBA Finals!
