Cheap shot artist, Matt Cooke’s cheap shot on Marc Savard. He has done this before. Great article in thebleacherreport.com.

I think he will only get 5 games because there was no penalty called by the refs. Obviously, it was an elbow to the side of Savard’s head and should have been a 5 minute intent to injure penalty and a game misconduct – then the league could asses the 10+ game suspension. The refs blew it, but the lack of an adequate response from the team has put a definitive black mark on this season, which I believe they will not and cannot recover from. Savard deserved better from his teammates and they didn’t have his back.

This is a frail team, zero back bone. Pathetic, I really don’t know what else to say……what a soft bunch of players. A tough team would of went right after Crosby or Malkin, no cheap shots, but let their best players know they are now open targets….

i didnt see the hit live or the most of game for that matter, but first thing: very cheap shot and if the team didnt respond them shame on them.i was was at the toronto game and lucic, who i always considered a tough guy looked like a girl out there. it was nice that thorton and begin picked up the slack.i know orrs a tough guy and all but if luch isnt up for it because of naggin injury then get em outta there. im not just talkin about the fight but he looked awful all game. we need players to start playin

How about a team suspension for the player(s) that were following the play and did not go after Cooke? This is pathetic. The Bruins of old would not have taken this. Somewhere, Johnny Pie McKenzie is shaking his head in disgust….

Obviously, those that think Matt Cooke should be suspended never watched Terry O’Reilly play the game.
